Foraging
Castle crag in the English Lake District has been popular with climbers for hundreds of years. On the 27th November 2018 a slab the size of a bungalow, weighing 1,000 tonnes, broke off. The crack had been discovered in 2010 and had been threatening to collapse ever since. On top of the slab was an ancient yew tree which was used by climbers to belay off. The tree came crashing down with the slab and smashed onto the rocks below. I joined my friend, the sculptor Gordon Baddeley, to retrieve some of the wood from the tree which he wanted to carve into a sculpture. This is a series of images of Gordon foraging for the material. I'm hoping to add to the series with images of the finished pieces in time.
